Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic Acid is an important player in the body’s super highway. Our skin relies on Hyaluronic Acid (let’s call HA from here out) to help keep it moist and elastic. When that’s taken away the skin can become brittle, it can crack and even wrinkle. The basic question here is: Can an HA supplement help keep the skin looking in tip-top shape. We’ll there seems to be a ton of nutrition companies out there that say that it can. Of course they do right? There always seems to be the newest and latest supplement that will perform some sorta miracle on my body. As skeptical as I usually am with these kinda products, I can at least follow the logic behind this ingredient.
The Good
There seems be quite a bit of good that comes from having the appropriate supply of HA in your body. The body relies upon HA to deliver key nutrients to skin cells and other parts of the body including the eye, heart, spine and other parts. Science can’t quite agree why it happens, but the body eventually produces less and less HA which can isolate those cells leading to brittle joints, skin and other ailments. But if the body had an ample supply of HA would these deteriorations happen? That’s the driving question/force behind this supplement.
Most of the research I can find states that HA supplements are a good start in fighting the process. Will it be an absolute cure? That probably depends on the individual–but for most I’d say no. But it helps, and that’s what’s important.
The Bad
As opposed to other chemically produced supplements, there really isn’t a “bad” associated with this product. The worst case scenario would be that the product doesn’t work and you’re out a couple of bucks. This appears to be a pretty safe, natural alternative to other methods.
I have read a few reports where companies will include HA that was taken from animals. This can limit the quality of the product, thus it’s effectiveness.
How much does Hyaluronic Acid cost?
There are more expensive skin treatments out there; Botox to name one. An HA supplement shouldn’t empty the bank account but I don’t think it should be considered a screaming deal either. Nothing effective ever comes cheap, that’s just the way our free market works. Usually, if it works and works well, you’re going to have to pay for it. But again, this is probably a cheaper, more natural way to fight off the effects of age.
The way we see it
We like it. LIsten, any time we can find something that’s natural and safer then more traditional supplements we’re going to give it a better recommendation. If you’re looking for the “miracle” drug that will cure wrinkles for the rest of your natural life, this probably isn’t it. Then again, if you find it, please let us know because we’ve been after the fountain of youth since we started reviewing products.
