Snap-8
Snap-8 is fairly similar in purpose to Argireline. If you’ve read that review, our thoughts on Snap-8 are fairly comparable. These products work by trying to restrict the muscle contractions in the face. A sign of age is the increasing of wrinkles and deep lines in the face. This is simply a fact of life. It happens.
There are several factors that can lead to these “signs of age.” These could include gravity, facial movements, furrows and creases in the skin. These signs commonly appear in the forehead and around the eyes. It appears that with time, the body reduces its production of collagen that helps keep the skin looking tight and healthy. On the same token the muscle movements in the face don’t slow or alter with age, so a natural thing happens—lines and wrinkles appear.
How does Snap-8 work?
To combat this problem, Snap-8 and Argireline limit the neurotransmitters the vesicles in the body send out to the muscles telling them to contract. So, if the message never gets the receiver, that receiver won’t get that message. If the transmissions never get to the muscle telling it to move, those muscles remain still. That’s the watered-down version of what Snap-8 tries to do.
There is really little difference between the synthetically produced Snap-8 and Argireline. The minor difference deals with the amount of amino acids on the chain. Snap-8 is a hexapeptide that contains 8 amino acids on the chain, while Argireline is an octapeptide with 6 amino acids on the chain. That aside I doubt you’ll really see much difference between the two. Because it restricts muscle movement, these ingredients are often called a natural, safer approach to botox. No injections needed with this ingredient, it can simply be applied in some type of cream or gel.
The Bad
- Research inconclusive over long-term effects
- Needs to be used in proper amounts
The Good
- A safer and more natural approach to botox
- Can be applied directly to target area
- No know side effects
- Cheaper then other treatments
- Research seems to back-up claims of effectiveness
How we see it
There are worse products out there, I can attest to that. I think the science is legit, and from what I can gather people seem to respond well to the product. I’m not sure how I feel about the muscles in my face being hog-tied but if you’re considering botox (which does the same thing) I would say at least give this a shot first. If it works, it’s a ton cheaper and more natural.
